APPLICANTION FOR DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY GOVERNMENT HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTIONS
The Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC) would like to inform the public that admission into various Certificate and Diploma Programmes in Health and Related fields offered by Public health training institutions for academic year 2017/2018) is now open for new applicants. The applications can either be received at the Public Health Institutions which will admit the applicants through their Institutional Panel or the applicant can apply online through NACTE website (www.nacte.go.tz ).
Applicants, who aspire to be admitted into health training institutions registered by the NACTE (government and non-government OR recognized by Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children) for academic year 2017/2018, should meet the following minimum entry requirements:
PRE-SERVICE ENTRY QUALIFICATION
- Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in Community Health
Duration of One (1) Year
- Holder of at least four (4) O-level passes non-religious subjects including biology at D grade or above., OR
- An applicant who has form IV or VI qualification with at least D of Biology; and had received informal training in CHWs, PSWs and MAs recognized programs; and practiced in the respective area. Admission of such applicants into the programme will follow guidelines and procedures for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) prescribed by NACTE.
- Basic Technician Certificate Level (NTA Level 4)
Duration of One (1) year
· Pharmaceutical Sciences:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including ‘D’ passes in Biology and Chemistry;
- Technician Certificate Level (NTA Level 5)
Duration of Two (2) years
- Environmental Health:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including ‘D’ passes in Physics/Engineering Sciences, Chemistry and Biology;
- Pharmaceutical Sciences:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including ‘D’ passes in Physics/Engineering Sciences, Chemistry and Biology;
- Health Records and Information Technology:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including ‘D’ passes in Mathematics, English,Chemistry and Biology;
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least ‘D’ passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English and Mathematics;
- Clinical Medicine:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least ‘D’ passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English and Mathematics.
- Ordinary Diploma level (NTA Level 6)
Duration of Three (3) years
- Environmental Health Sciences, Dental Laboratory Technology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Physiotherapy:
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including at least ‘C’ pass in Chemistry and Biology; and ‘D’ pass in Physics/Engineering Sciences
- Clinical Dentistry
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) passes in non-religious subjects including at least ‘C’ in Biology, ‘D’ in Chemistry, Physics, English language and Mathematics.
- Optometry
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least ‘C’ pass in Physics/Engineering Sciences and Biology; and ‘D’ passes in Chemistry and Mathematics;
- Health Records and Information Technology
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least ‘C’ pass in Chemistry and Biology; and ‘D’ pass in English and Mathematics;
- Medical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Medicine
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least ‘C’ pass in Chemistry and Biology, and ‘D’ passes in Physics, English and Mathematics
- Nursing
Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with ‘C’ pass in Chemistry and Biology, and ‘D’ passes in Physics and English
Note:
For Government institutions, applicants are required to have completed O’ Level between 2012 and 2016 (inclusively).
Upgrading Programmes
Duration of one (1) year
- Clinical Medicine;
Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Clinical Medicine with at least four (4) passes including “D” pass in Biology in Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)
- Pharmaceutical Sciences;
Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Pharmaceutical Sciences with at least four (4) passes including “D” pass in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)
- Health Records and Information Technology;
Holder of Certificate in Health Record Technology with at least four (4) passes including “D” Pass in Biology in Secondary School Examination (CSEE)
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Medical Laboratory Sciences with at least four (4) passes including ‘D’ Pass in Biology and Chemistry in Secondary Certificate Education.
OR
Holder of Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate trained through Knowledge based Curriculum with at least four (4) passes including ‘D’ Pass in Biology in Secondary Certificate Education.
IN-SERVICE ENTRY QUALIFICATION
Ordinary Diploma in Nursing
- Holder of Certificate NTA level 5 in Nursing with ‘D’ pass in Biology, Chemistry or Physics (CSEE) for the graduates starting from 2010; OR
- Graduates before NTAs system should have certificate in Nursing and Midwifery/Public Health Nurse B and at least D Pass in any of science subject;
Necessary Attachments:
- Register and License to practice by TNMC
- Technician Certificate and Transcript
- Letter of permission from employer.
Ordinary Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences
- Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE); AND
- Holder of Certificate in Environmental Health Sciences from Health Training Institution recognized by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children;
Necessary Attachments:
- Technician Certificate and Transcript
- Letter of permission from employer.
- License to practice
Ordinary Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Medical Laboratory Sciences trained from Health Training Institution recognized by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children with ‘D’ passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Engineering Sciences and English Language in O’Level (CSEE) ; OR
- Holder of Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences trained from Health Training Institution recognized by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children with ‘D’ passes in Biology and Chemistry in O’Level (CSEE) awarded before 2012.
Necessary Attachments:

- License to practice
- Letter of permission from employer.
Ordinary Diploma in Clinical Medicine
- Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Clinical Medicine with at least four (4) passes including “D” pass in Biology in Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)

- Letter of permission from employer.
Ordinary Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science
- Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA level 5) in Pharmaceutical Sciences with at least four (4) passes including “D” pass in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)
Necessary Attachments:
- Technician Certificate and Transcript
- Letter of permission from employer.
- License to practice
Advanced Diploma (Clinical Medicine – AMO; Clinical Dentistry – ADO; and Vector Control).
- Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE); AND
- Ordinary Diploma Certificate of the related field awarded by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children;

Important Issues to Observe
- The applications are received at the Public Health Institutions which will admit the applicants through their Institutional Panel and also one can apply directly online through NACTE website (nacte.go.tz).
- Applicant will choose not more than five (5) choices.
- Applicants will be required to pay a Non-refundable application fee of Tshs.30,000/- payable through M-Pesa.

- Results for selected applicants will be posted on Ministry (MoHCDGEC) website, Institution, NACTE website and individual applicants profile.
- Joining instruction will be given by institutions on which applicants was selected.
Kindly be advised to observe the admission dates, and note that in any case, admission will not be extended.
